Police: Most from Cambridge, few from Somerville

A man arrested in Cambridge for allegedly stealing over 100 parking meters during the last year may also have been stealing meters in Somerville, according to authorities.

Cambridge Police went to 5 Plymouth St. Monday night to serve a warrant on Thomas Gannon, 38, for an alleged offense in Everett. When they arrived at Gannon’s apartment, they discovered 123 stolen parking meters, Cambridge police said.
Somerville Police Captain Paul Upton said a small number of the stolen meters were from Somerville, with most coming from Cambridge.
“It was a very large number of parking meters, but most seemed to have come from Cambridge,” he said.
A source close to the investigation said Gannon took in tens of thousands of dollars from his parking meter heists. Gannon was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and breaking into a depository.
