Police responded to reports of a seemingly disturbed man causing trouble at the Twin City Plaza area last Sunday afternoon.

When approached by police he was immediately combative and reportedly shouted obscenities and challenged the authority of the investigating officers.

Several attempts were made to calm the man down, police said, but he reportedly continued to shout at police and passers-by and used vulgar language in the presence of families with children along with them, police said.

It was eventually decided that the man should be removed from the area and he was asked to turn around in order to be handcuffed.

Although somewhat cooperative at first, the man suddenly resisted and began kicking and violently struggling with the officers as they attempted to place him in handcuffs, police said.

The man, later identified as Daniel Ryan, 47, was finally restrained and placed under arrest. He was taken away for booking on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
