The View From Prospect Hill

On December 24, 2011, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the ‘Ville,

Lots of things were stirring especially in Winter Hill,

The old Star Market is vacant and still up for rent,

We hope that they find a new tenant soon that’s picture perfect and Heaven sent.

Job Lot  missed the boat on Broadway but opened pretty near,

Now Somervillians are crossing the Mystic to shop on their way there!

The Assembly Square Project is off and running all in full swing,

Huge buildings and outlets are coming when the fat lady says she’s ready to sing!

Mudflat’s new studio opened and KFC closed,

The McGrath Highway overpass demolition and lowering was also highly proposed!

Walmart’s food store got bomb-shelled and might disappear,

Circuit City’s lot is still empty and looks like one giant nightmare!

Mayor Joe is hinting that he wants to be our next Gov to sit in that chair,

So Aldermen will be scrambling to grab his seat and all will be pulling their hair!

Again the Green Line plan was delayed and possibly dead,

Hubway Bicycles are coming to Somerville so commuters will be peddling instead!

Ward 4’s Walter said no more and decided not to run,

We wish him well with hopes that he spends many deserved days bathing in the sun!

Lafuente ran for Alderman and won without his name being smeared,

Others saved their seats as well and Bob Trane was also spared!

Registrar Gene Brune announced his retirement to the public on all the news blogs,

New potential candidates were off and running like someone opened the doors and unleashed the dogs!

We at the Somerville News Group wish you a Merry Christmas and hope all celebrate the day as well as the night,

And to all the children in the ‘Ville go to bed early and we hope you sleep warm and sleep tight!
