A Somerville Housing Investigator was called to the scene of a reported fight between two females at 35 Memorial Road last Wednesday.

The Investigator encountered a disheveled looking young woman who was visibly upset and holding her arm. She reportedly pointed out the 10 River Rd. building and stated “the tall black dude with the dreads pushed me and grabbed my arm, screaming at me.”

The girl’s brother then proceeded to that location and the Investigating Officer immediately followed after him. Upon arrival, the Officer heard yelling between the girl’s brother and Anthony Cundiff, 30, of 10 River Rd.

The Officer engaged Cundiff, temporarily calming the situation. The man suddenly began arguing with the young woman’s brother once again, however, drawing a crowd of onlookers, the Investigator reported. Additional police units were requested to assist, as the Officer reportedly took action to stop the argument.

Then two females were found to be screaming and fighting nearby. The Officer reported that Sasha Johnson, 29, Cundiff’s girlfriend, was engaging in a fistfight with another woman. As the Investigator stepped in to break up this fight, the two males from the earlier altercation again began arguing, according to the Officer’s report.

As the Officer once more turned his attention to the two males, the two women began to scuffle again. According to the Officer’s report, Cundiff then grabbed the hair of his girlfriend’s opponent, twisting her arm and yelling expletives at her. The Investigator ordered Cundiff to release the woman and to restrain Johnson, which Cundiff reportedly did.

Cundiff and the other man began arguing once more and, while the Officer attempted to keep them apart, the two women yet again began fighting, according to reports.

At this time backup units from the Somerville Police Department, along with another Somerville Housing Investigator, arrived and assisted in separating the males, while the two females were put in handcuffs to keep them from fighting.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Johnson was the primary antagonist, while Cundiff allegedly pushed and grabbed both females during the incident.

Both Johnson and Cundiff were charged with assault and battery.
