Mr. Jim Elliott has accepted a transfer to the Assistant Principal position at the Dr. Albert F. Argenziano School at Lincoln Park beginning on July 1, 2011.  Mr. Elliott, currently serving as Assistant Principal John F. Kennedy Elementary School, will follow retiring Assistant Principal, Betsey Holland, in this senior instructional leadership position in the School.

In announcing the transfer, Superintendent Tony Pierantozzi said of Mr. Elliott’s administrative credentials, “In his time at the Kennedy School, Jim has demonstrated an ability to work collaboratively, he is well organized, has a strong focus on professional development focused student engagement and learning, and knowledge of the middle school grades. I am pleased we can offer him an opportunity to continue to grow professionally within the Somerville Public Schools so our students and families can continue to benefit from his commitment to education, inspiration and excellence.”

Staff and families at both the Kennedy School and the Argenziano School were notified of the July 1 transfer on Tuesday, March 22nd. Kennedy School Principal Dr. Anne L. Foley in her phone message said, “While we will miss Jim’s skills and easy going manner here at the Kennedy, he won’t be so far away that we can’t keep in touch.” Barbara O’Brien, Principal of the Argenziano School, sent a similar note to the Argenziano community on Tuesday, welcoming Mr. Elliott back to the Argenziano School team after his two years at the Kennedy School.

Mr. Elliott joined the faculty of the Somerville Public Schools in 1986 as a teacher at the Winter Hill Community School; he then transferred to the Albert F. Argenziano School at Lincoln Park when it reopened in 2007.  Mr. Elliott was appointed to the position of Assistant Principal for the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in 2008.

Additional administrative appointments to be made within the Somerville Public Schools before July 1, 2011 include the Assistant Principal of the John F. Kennedy Elementary School and an Assistant Principal at Somerville High School.
