Crushed
Once gliding through the air,
Sailing on a breath,
Now fallen,
Grounded with the stamp
Of a shiny, lacquered pump.
Trampled by sticky sneakers
And deserted under the corner of a dusty,
Rotting bookshelf,
Paint peeling and wood pulling,
Groaning with each step that passes.
The shining white paper now dulled
Speckled with aged mold
Fine edges crinkled and crumbling
Into the damp air.
Then all at once
Swept away
The breeze lifts me up
And ushers me into oblivion.
