Life in the Ville by Jimmy Del Ponte
I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I have a funny true story to share. Monday is trash day for our street so I brought all my stuff out and put it in the barrels. I went back inside and put the TV on waiting for Leave it to Beaver to come on.
I had an envelope with $80 in it and it was on my nightstand. My little trash barrel is on the floor nearby. I sat down on the edge of my bed and happened to notice the envelope was not there. I immediately and frantically tore the bed apart looking for the envelope to no avail.
I figured I threw it out with the trash. So now what? I dashed out to the curb with my trusty jackknife and cut the trash bag open and started picking through everything. No envelope. Someone walked by ad I was rifling through that trash barrel.
I was very nervous about losing $80. I went back in the house and scoured my bedroom. Sure enough I found the envelope. How it got tucked in my sheets I don’t know.
The funniest part of this story is what the neighbors thought of me barrel picking. It could make it to Facebook. “Jimmy hits on tough days!”
As I enjoy my golden years, my memory is what keeps me going do I always try to remember things.
I remember that we are now into the Christmas season so the lights are on the porch and I hope to bring my big Santa up soon.
