All interested community members are invited to attend and speak at a Public Hearing before the Somerville City Council’s Land Use Committee and the Somerville Planning Board on Thursday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m.  

Community members will have the opportunity to provide input on a proposed amendment to the City’s Zoning Ordinance to remove requirements that developers create new parking spaces when constructing new buildings.

This hearing will be conducted through remote participation via Zoom.  

There are three ways to participate:  

  1. Join online: To attend and be heard, follow the link to register below to register for the meeting. After registering, you will receive an email with instructions to join the webinar when it starts.

  1. While the meeting will be held virtually on Zoom, City staff will provide space for any community members who would like to testify in-person at the second-floor committee room at Somerville City Hall (93 Highland Avenue).  

Staff will be available to assist for the duration of the meeting. Members of the public do not need to bring their own devices. 

  1. Persons unable to attend the hearing may provide comments by email to the Planning Board and the City Council at publiccomments@somervillema.gov. Comments must be received no later than 12 p.m. the day of the Hearing to ensure they are conveyed to the Committee for inclusion with the hearing testimony. The Chair(s) may opt to extend the period for written comments, in which case additional comments will be accepted until the date indicated.  

Final language of the amendment may be modified by the City Council during the legislative process.
