Pressley Runs Unopposed for Third Straight Democratic Primary Victory

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) released the following statement following her uncontested victory in the 2024 Massachusetts Democratic Primary:

“I am so humbled by the support from voters across the Massachusetts 7th. I am deeply grateful to my family, and to our dedicated team, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we are powerful. And daily we are working towards a more just world for our neighbors and for everyone who calls this district home.

From safe housing to abortion care, student debt cancellation, and support for vital community projects, the change we are making is real and meaningful. And I’ve been honored by the overwhelming support our work has received every reelection since we first made history together.

Our work together remains as vital today as it was when I was first elected to Congress. For every inch of hard-won progress, there are extreme Republicans and special interests intent on taking us backwards. But this diverse, intergenerational movement – led by the people – has proven time and again what we can achieve when we organize, mobilize, use our collective power, and lead with love.

I am deeply honored and humbled to once again be the Democratic nominee to represent the Massachusetts 7th in Congress. I look forward to earning your vote each and every day, and doing everything I can to elect Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats up and down the ballot in November.”

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley made history in 2018 when she became the first woman of color elected to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Congress. Since then, Congresswoman Pressley has secured over $35 million in federal funding for high-impact community projects that will help build a more just and equitable district, and has been a leader on vital legislation like the Abortion Justice Act; the PAID Leave Act; the Down Payment Toward Equity Act, to invest $100 billion toward down payment assistance for first-generation, first-time homebuyers; the Freedom to Move Ac; and the Post-Disaster Mental Health Response Act, signed into law by President Biden, which expands mental health support for survivors of natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
