Arts at the Armory’s Spotlight Series will kick off its 3rd full season with singer-songwriter Lady Lamb on Friday, September 6.

From her humble beginnings in a video rental store in Brunswick, Maine to the stages of New York City, Lady Lamb’s journey has been one of passion and profound musicality. Before Lady Lamb was a breakout star, she would stay long after her shift ended at the local video store to experiment and record music all night. The young artist distributed her first recordings in homemade packages to music stores in Brunswick, like Bullmoose Record Store. Lady Lamb was quick to develop a reputation on New England stages for quieting rowdy crowds with arresting a cappella melodies to open her sets. Lady Lamb moved to New York to make a name for herself when she turned 20.

Lady Lamb’s music resonates with authenticity and raw emotion. Co-producing and arranging her four studio records that culminates in the recent new box set, In the Mammoth Nothing of the Night, Lady Lamb has crafted a sound that transcends genres, weaving together poetic confessionals with empowering anthems that speak to the human experience. Her live performances are nothing short of revelations, inviting listeners on a journey through the landscapes of her soul.

Two powerful singer-songwriters who hail from Massachusetts will open for Lady Lamb: Naomi Westwater will be the local opener, and Hannah Mohan will be the tour opener.

A queer, Black-multiracial singer-songwriter from Massachusetts, Westwater holds a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance and Production from Berklee College of Music. Their work interweaves folk-rock music, poetry, and spirituality. Westwater was nominated for a 2021 and 2022 Boston Music Award for best singer-songwriter. They are working on producing a series called Reclaiming Folk: A Celebration of People of Color in Folk Music. www.naomiwestwater.com

Mohan, formerly of the indie-pop band And the Kids, makes her solo debut this summer with her album “Time Is a Walnut.” After years of touring across North America, Mohan’s music is deeply rooted in her formative life experiences. Recorded during the heart of the pandemic, “Time Is a Walnut” is a testament to her resilience and artistic growth. www.egghunt-records.com/hannah-mohan-bio
