Volunteer docents needed

On June 5, 2024, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

Whether you want to learn more about local history, meet your neighbors, or simply get outside, we would love to have you join the 2024 Somerville Docent Program.

For over ten years, three historic sites in Somerville — Milk Row Cemetery (Somerville Avenue), Prospect Hill Tower (above Union Square), and Old Powder House (Nathan Tufts Park) — have been open to the public on certain days and evenings from May through October. During the two-hour opening times, volunteers provide guided tours and information about the sites. All sites are ADA accessible, and all openings are free and open to the public.

There is no prior experience required: simply bring your enthusiasm, reliability, and a commitment to be trained. To register your interest, contact Grace Bryan, Historic Events Manager at grace@somervillemuseum.org. To learn more about the Docent Program, visit somervillemuseum.org/docent-program.
