Unique Porchfest performance

At Somerville’s Porchfest this weekend, Sara Adkins performed a Live Coding music set, during which she wrote computer code that created music in real-time.

The performance drew a large crowd, as Sara and a couple of other performers who she hosted from the Live Code Boston organization used their laptops to create music and visuals, which were displayed across several old televisions.

Audience members were invited to play Super Smash Brothers on a Nintendo Wii that was in front of the performers, and the game they played was incorporated into the visuals displayed to the rest of the audience.

Visuals for different sets also included a camera feed of molten pewter being swirled in a pot by one of the performers, and a webcam feed of the audience that was processed in real-time using artificial intelligence.
