The Somerville Public Library will host a Poetry Reading with Local Poets on Wednesday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. West Branch Community Room, 40 College Ave. Join local poets Holly Guran, Gloria Mindock, and Timothy Gager as they read from some of their recent work. 

Featuring readers:

George Kalogeris has noted of each poem in Holly Guran’s new book Now Before and Ever “a time capsule of poignancy and visceral memory.” She is also the author of Twilight Chorus, A River of Bones and two chapbooks. Curator of the well-known series Rozzie Reads, Holly’s poems have also appeared in numerous journals including Salamander, Poet Lore, Poetry East and The Aurorean.
 
2017 & 2018 Somerville Poet Laureate, Gloria Mindock is the editor of Červená Barva Press. Her poems have been published and translated into eleven languages, comprising six award-winning poetry collections, including her recent books Grief Touched the Sky at Night (Glass Lyre Press, 2023) and ASH (Glass Lyre Press, 2021), Find her at: https://www.gloriamindock.com/
 
Nick Flynn has praised the boldness of Timothy Gager  for “capturing the chaos, the confusion, the despair, and the existential strangeness of our time.” Gager has published 18 books of fiction and poetry, hosting the successful Dire Literary Series in Cambridge & starting a weekly virtual series in 2020. His writing has been read on National Public Radio. In 2023, Big Table published an anthology of twenty years of his selected work, with 150 pages of new material: The Best of Timothy Gager.
