Blue: The Celebration of a Color, curated by Martha Friend:

For millennia humans have treasured the color blue, using it to create both great works of art and ordinary but treasured household objects. Blue suggests royalty, peace, and tranquility. Even the words we use to describe shades of blue evoke a sense of beauty: turquoise, indigo, cerulean, periwinkle, cobalt, aquamarine. It is associated with the stillness of night, the calming waves of the ocean, and the cooling properties of water. This exhibition invites visitors to explore the many different meanings and uses of blue – through a collection of art, artifacts, regular household objects, fashion, and concepts. A celebration of all things blue.
