Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, Ward Five Councilor Beatriz Gomez Mouakad, Senior City Planner Cortney Kirk and city staff address the crowd at the ceremonial ground-breaking for Somerville’s Junction Park, 114 Central St.

Following the completion of the Green Line and Community Path extension, the City of Somerville is planning to expand and improve Somerville Junction Park. In addition to being an important neighborhood passive park, Junction Park will become an important node and resting place along the Community Path. The city has hired a design consultant to lead the design and community process in Spring 2022. Potential new amenities at an expanded Junction Park may include community gardens, water play, and adult fitness equipment.
