Above and Beyond: The Remarkable Life of Somerville Olympian Phil Reavis, an exhibit at the Somerville Museum, will hold its closing reception, Saturday, July 8, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Above and Beyond showcases the life of Phil Reavis, a Somerville native, Olympic athlete, long-time educator, and one of the first people of color in Somerville with a public space named in his honor. Reavis broke records as high jumper, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine, coached Vietnam’s 1964 Olympic track and field team, and enjoyed a long career as a teacher, coach, and musician. A world traveler, Reavis now divides his time between Somerville and Macau, China. The Somerville High School’s athletic field will be named The Philip Reavis, Sr. Field. Green Line train service between Lechmere and Union Square stations will be suspended for 42 days from July 18 to August 28. This service change is due to critical repair work by MassDOT on the Squire Bridge, which crosses over tracks near Union Square Station. COA’s Blood Pressure Screening, Monday, July 10 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Celeste Gearhart, RN from the Public Health Nursing Department will be visiting the Holland St. Center to conduct blood pressure screenings. She will be taking blood pressure and handing out educational materials on heart health. Stop by to get your blood pressure taken, meet with Celeste, and ask her any questions you might have.

Somerville Public Library offers video game hangouts for teens and tweens (ages 10-18) at the Central Library, 79 Highland Ave, all through the summer from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Hangouts will take place July 10, 17, 24, and again August 7 and 21.
