The ADA Community Survey Will Help Inform Updates to Somerville’s ADA Transition Plan
Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Department of Racial and Social Justice (RSJ) are announcing the launch of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Community Survey, which will begin on February 6, 2023.
The City’s ADA Division, which oversees the city’s policy-setting, coordination, and training for ADA compliance, is undertaking the survey on behalf of the administration to better understand the Somerville community’s needs and priorities for the City’s ADA Plan as well as the public’s experiences with accessibility in Somerville. The ADA Transition Plan identifies current barriers that limit the accessibility of programs, activities, or services in the City of Somerville.
“Learning from the lived experiences of our Somerville community is one of the most impactful ways we can build a better and more accessible future,” said Mayor Ballantyne. “I encourage everyone to share their experience with us as this survey will be an important guide as we review and improve the City’s ADA Transition Plan.”
“The survey is an important moment for the Somerville community,” said Somerville ADA Coordinator Adrienne Pomeroy. “The Somerville Commission for Persons with Disabilities has been an invaluable resource and I look forward to shaping a more accessible Somerville with them. The feedback will help shape the future of our city and better inform how we build spaces, places and programs that are accessible for all.”
