A woman stole the tip jar from the counter of a Davis Square restaurant Jan. 17, according to police.

Police said they have identified the woman and will file charges against her for larceny. An employee chased the woman to the parking lot behind the Davis Square Post Office and tried to negotiate with the suspect, police said.

However, the suspect drove off in her car and almost struck the employee, police said.
