At approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning a street sweeper was caught in very low hanging wires on Essex St. The pole and live wires fell on the sweeper trapping the driver inside. 

A technical response by the Somerville Fire Department was dispatched. For safety reasons, Eversource was notified to  shut down power in that area.

The Fire Dept. was able to rescue the driver out of the truck without injury. The incident did cause damage to a parked car and several homes were left without power during that time.
