Attorney General finds F.W. Russell violated wage laws

The Massachusetts Attorney General's office announced today that Somerville's trash contractor violated state wage laws.


F.W. Russell, recently given a five-year contract extension by the Board of Aldermen for the city's trash and recycling services, was accused of wage violations two years ago during a labor dispute.

In a press release, the Attorney General's office said Russell and its affiliates will pay $70,000 to 352 current and former employees in addition to a $20,000 penalty.
