Somerville Police officers were dispatched to Bairos Liquors on Broadway last Saturday evening on reports of an intoxicated customer who refused to leave the store after the manager refused to sell liquor to the defendant, Tyler Manning.

The store manager told police that he refused to sell liquor to Manning because of his level of intoxication. According to the manager, Manning began to threaten him by saying, “I’m going to kick your ass. Come at me, I’ll beat you up.”

The manager said that he then informed Manning that he was calling Somerville Police.

Manning reportedly shouted at police, almost nose to nose with one of the officers on the sidewalk. As officers approached him, Manning took a combative stance and began shouting and threatening them.

Manning was ordered numerous times to leave the area by one officer, but he reportedly belligerently shouting at the officer, and then chest bumped him.

Manning was pressed up against the building and then placed on the ground with an arm bar takedown.

A struggle ensued as Manning was placed in handcuffs. He was then informed that he was under arrest. Manning reportedly made numerous attempts to get up and lunge at officers. He was then placed on a bench, and continued to try to get up and lunge at them, but he was held down on the bench by force.

Manning was placed in a police transport vehicle and taken to the station for booking on charges of resisting arrest, threat to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct.

According to reports, the booking officer was unable to book Manning because of his behavior. He was placed into a prisoner cell so that he could have some time to calm down in the hopes that the officer in charge could finish the booking process.
